Artists will tell you that they often get these strange urges to create something primal.  With me, I had this burning desire to create something with a mythic feel to it.  As I worked, I suddenly realized that what I was coming up with was Odin: the one eyed Nordic god.  Odin is an old god, and I wanted to show him as aged.  I also wanted to have him pondering something.  Perhaps he's about to punish a mortal.  Perhaps he's worried about his son Thor.

"Odin Contemplates"  is a mostly black and white piece, with some subtle skin tones blended in to break up the contrast and add depth to it.

Hang it up on your wall and then tell me what you think he's contemplating.
