You are correct in first asking, when you see this painting, "Why in the world would you paint a portrait of Lee Harvey Oswald, the man who shot John F. Kennedy?"
The reason is a little complex, so bare with me. It all started when I finished watching (and then re-watched) the amazing documentary Oswald's Ghost. In it, they delve into what could have motivated Oswald to commit such a crime. The best analysis was given my Norman Mailer (which I won't ruin for you, you simply MUST watch it for yourself). But in doing so, he tells us that Oswald haunts American history like a ghost. And hence this piece I produced.
In it, I try and project Oswald as a faded menace, but one that still lurks in the recesses of the North American psyche.
This is a piece of art in the truest sense for me. This isn't something you hang on your wall because it matches your couch. You hang it and ask yourself "Why?" and "How?" and "What if?".
Because of the sensitive nature of the subject matter, there are only 5 original prints available. Full sized and signed by me.
